Ω Cen Project
Determined at the southernmost place in Europe to make a dream come true, i.e. to photograph the greatest globular cluster of the firmament, no effort was too much for me. Defeating the fatigue of a busy day and after 1 hour of walking alone at midnight on the dunes, carrying all the equipment, under a hazy changeable night sky, I finally arrived at the planned location. I needed a bit of luck to manually find the globular cluster at 200mm focal length. The focusing and centering it on a tripod standing on the fine sand of the magical Maspalomas was a real challenge. I did all this during the Moon was low on the horizon, just 48 hours before the arrival of Calima, a weather phenomenon that marks the bitter end of any astrophotographic activity.
